Crystallized Gold
El Álamo district, Baja California, México
This remarkable gold specimen showcases intricate crystal habits, featuring distinctive character patterns across its surface. Its crystal morphology reveals stepped structures, known as hoppered or chevron crystals, with sharply angled edges at its extremities. Numerous textured and geometric crystals emerge as secondary growth on its surface. On the reverse side, the gold exhibits larger hoppered crystals, each displaying a bold character through pronounced stepped formations. This hoppered crystal arrangement on the reverse also forms a hollow feature, where complex crystals extend deeper into the gold, accompanied by secondary micro-crystal growth on certain hoppered crystals.
