Crystallized Gold on Quartz
El Álamo district, Baja California, México
This dramatic gold crystal originated from a very rare locality and often unheard of. What adds to its uniqueness are the sharp well defined spinel twin elongated crystallization which is rarely seen with gold specimens from Mexico. The crystal morphology on the front side developed thick dendritic branches of native gold overlapping and intersecting one another on two beautifully formed quartz clusters on each end of the gold crystals. Its reverse side displays sharp striations and more spinel twin crystal habits with elongated native gold crystal clusters intergrown. Overall, the shape is very aesthetic and crystalized all around. The native gold crystal is a rich buttery yellow color with good luster. This gold specimen is a great representation from its locality.
