Hoppered Crystallized Gold
El Álamo district, Baja California, MéxicoThis stunning gold crystal hails from an exceptionally rare and often overlooked locality. Its uniqueness is further enhanced by its sharp, well-defined crystallization, a feature seldom found in gold specimens from Mexico. The front side showcases striking hoppered crystal growth, with dendritic branches of native gold overlapping and intersecting in intricate patterns. Portions of the native gold exhibit a lustrous, slightly textured surface adorned with secondary microcrystal growth. The reverse side reveals spinel twin crystal formations, featuring clusters of elongated native gold crystals intergrown together. The overall shape is highly aesthetic, with complete crystallization all around. The native gold displays a rich, buttery yellow hue with excellent luster. This specimen is a remarkable representation of its unique locality.
