Octohedral Gold Crystal
El Álamo district, Baja California, México
This highly aesthetic gold specimen developed very rare crystal habits with striking crystal morphology from a rare locality. The gold formed a spinel twin spine with slightly modified octahedral crystal stacked one on top of another. This formation is very rare in nature and this specimen represents an exceptional example of this crystal habit. The gold on its top end formed into a unique geometric crystal slightly split on one side continuing its spinel twin formation. Its bright buttery yellow color and good luster also contribute to its already impressive aesthetics. Both sides of the go9ld crystal displays sharp crystal form and rich color. This gold specimen is a perfect example for the micro mount collector.
