Crystalline Gold on Quartz
Coulterville Mining District, Mariposa County, California County
This remarkable specimen features intricate, thick angular crystals of native gold arranged in complex clusters. The robust, thick crystalline gold exhibits a buttery yellow hue, dispersed throughout the quartz matrix. Nearly all sides of the quartz matrix are interlaced with native gold veins, predominantly thick plates with slightly smooth edges, while other sections showcase well-developed, angular, textured gold crystals. The middle front section consists of hundreds of layered native gold crystals with leafy habits, displaying lustrous flat faces. Gold crystals from this California locality are rare and highly collectible, making this example an exceptional specimen.
