Crystalline Gold on Quartz

Like many specimens of gold from Nevada the Fire Creek locality is also a prime example of crystallized gold at its finest. Many of the gold crystals found in this locality are a natural rare alloy of native gold and native silver, commonly referred to as Electrum. The native gold exhibits lustrous large sharp plates of gold crystals with smaller crystal growth on top. The crystallized gold is complex with multi-variation crystal habits and some larger sharp crystals striking out of the white quartz matrix. Specimens from this locality are quite rare and not often available to collectors with as much gold on the matrix such as this example here.
