Crystalline Gold with Oxidized Arsenopyrite

This interesting native gold developed intriguing and complex crystal habits with oxidizing arsenopyrite crystals on its sides. Over long periods of time in nature the iron in arsenopyrite will sometimes oxidize and leach out which is the case for this gold specimen. Some arsinopyrite crystals are well preserved with great crystal structure in some areas. The native gold displays a complex textured surface with many striations and flat crystal habits. Its flat crystals are what make the gold specimen display luster from its reflective flat crystal growths. Both sides of the native gold display great luster and a saturated buttery yellow color.
