Crystallized Gold
Belshazzar Mine, Quartzburg District, Boise County, IdahoThis remarkable gold specimen displays a complex network of dendritic crystal growth formed by rare pseudowire gold crystals. The gold sits elegantly atop a grey quartz matrix accented by visible yellow sulfide minerals. Pseudowire gold represents one of the rarest crystal habits of native gold, and this locality is among the very few in the world known for producing such extraordinary formations. The matrix features small natural cavities that contain additional gold crystals, resembling miniature caves lined with sparkling gold. The reverse side reveals attractive cubic pyrite crystals, along with more gold naturally embedded within the matrix. Across the entire specimen, the crystallized gold shows exceptional color and bright metallic luster, creating a visually captivating piece for the collector.
