Crystallized Gold
Belshazzar Mine, Quartzburg District, Boise County, Idaho
This exceptional gold specimen features a complex dendritic formation made up of rare pseudowire gold crystals that branch together in an intricate natural pattern. The gold is beautifully perched on a grey quartz matrix highlighted by visible yellow sulfide minerals, creating strong natural contrast. Pseudowire gold crystals is one of the rarest crystal habits of native gold, and only a handful of localities worldwide are known to produce examples of this quality. The matrix contains small natural cavities that reveal additional gold crystals inside, giving the appearance of miniature caves lined with sparkling gold. The reverse side of the specimen displays well-formed cubic pyrite crystals along with more gold naturally set within the matrix. The gold across the specimen shows outstanding color and bright metallic luster, giving the piece strong visual appeal and making it a desirable addition for the serious collector.
