Crystallized Gold
Caborca, Mexico
Gold of this quality is exceptional for the locality and rarely seen with such sharp, well-defined crystallization. The specimen is complete on all sides and features flat, layered surfaces known as cast crystals. These form when gold grows over a quartz crystal and later preserves its shape as the quartz dissolves or separates. This locality is known for producing very high-purity gold, and this piece is a superb example of that quality. The flat crystal faces display a bright, highly lustrous crystallization, with similar crystallization visible on the reverse side. Thick, branching crystals extend from the edges, accompanied by smaller secondary crystal growth across the surface. This specimen is a striking and highly representative gold specimen from the locality.
