Crystallized Gold Cluster
Manhattan Mine, Manhattan Mining District, Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, USAThis incredible gold crystal displays densely clustered short geometric crystals that are slightly modified due to complex cooling when the gold formed. Its edges display short thick crystals of elongated dendritic crystals with its middle section having highly dense leafy crystal mesh. Some areas on its edges are slightly worn due to erosion from the gold vein, however, most of the crystal structure remains. The reverse side exhibits some good luster with flat crystal faces and slightly dendritic crystal habits. The crystallization is very similar to the front side with an evenly distributed saturated yellow color which is rare compared to the unusual pail crystals. This specimen is a great representation of the locality.
