Crystallized Gold

The native gold crystal here displays a unique and very unusual crystal habit. The gold specimen is believed to be a thick wire which has developed into branches of wires. There are deep and well-formed striations visible throughout the specimen. The unique “shredded" crystal structure is incredibly rare in gold crystals. In some areas the striations have crystallized into short leafy crystals which run from the bottom to its top and finally fuse together forming more branches. It’s a very interesting specimen and not to mention a rare crystal for its locality.
