Crystallized Gold Leaf

This large native gold specimen displays thick leaf crystals with unique modified octahedral habits developed on the surface of the leaf crystal. Some areas also display dendritic gold crystals branching out on complex overlapping habits. There is a smaller crystal just below the larger main leaf gold slightly perched from the quartz matrix. This unusual California locality is a perfect example of rare native gold and the first of its kind from Placerville.
