Crystallized Gold
Mariposa, California
This exceptional native gold specimen is a striking example of both intriguing crystal morphology and natural aesthetic balance. The structure displays an almost dendritic formation, composed of short, thick gold crystals in a sculptural arrangement. Each branch shows well-defined geometric crystal faces with subtly flattened terminations, adding character and visual interest. Lustrous crystalline surfaces appear throughout the specimen, complemented by a small micro quartz crystals attached along one side, providing attractive contrast. The reverse side reveals a richly textured surface layered with fine native gold microcrystal growth, where overlapping and intersecting crystals create depth and complexity. At the base, a prominent trigon crystal a modified octahedral form anchors the piece, while smaller modified octahedral crystals branch outward along the sides, enhancing the specimen’s dimensional appeal. Originating from a rare locality that is no longer producing, this specimen represents an increasingly scarce and desirable example of crystallized native gold.
