This native gold crystal exhibits a vivid, vibrant yellow hue, distinctive to gold from Mariposa County. The gold has crystallized into numerous flat faces, each boasting an exceptionally high luster. Certain gold crystals have formed a cluster of overlapping, leaf-like curved and ribbon structures. Upon close inspection, each robust, leafy crystal reveals intricate striations and unevenly textured surfaces, with most displaying secondary microcrystal growth. The native gold is thick and permeates much of the quartz matrix, enhancing the specimen’s already remarkable visual appeal. The milky white quartz matrix provides a striking contrast, beautifully complementing the brilliantly crystallized native gold.
