Crystallized Gold on Quartz Matrix

This large and rare example of native gold displays thick angular sharp crystals which terminate out from the red-pink quartz matrix. Seeing this color of reddish pink quartz is a sign of iron sulfide staining from millions of years of natural weathering of the quartz rock. The gold is a rich saturation of yellow metal which also displays great luster and pops out of the quartz matrix. This natural native gold specimen is a perfect example of rare gold from the historically gold rich town of Georgetown California.
