Crystallized Gold
Oriental Mine, Alleghany, California
This fine specimen of crystallized native gold from the famous Oriental Mine in Sierra County, California, is a captivating example of natural gold formation. Both sides display bright, reflective luster and intricate crystal growth, with layered, stepped structures forming bold, leafy plates of gold. On the reverse, a section of white quartz is attached, providing a pleasing contrast and enhancing the specimen’s three-dimensional form. Surrounding the main leaf-like crystal are smaller, well-formed offshoots, adding texture and visual depth. In several areas, sharply defined striations can be seen across mirror-bright surfaces, a distinctive and sought-after feature. Nearly every facet catches the light, giving the piece a refined, gem-like brilliance that makes it a standout in any fine mineral collection.
