Crystallized Gold Wire
Placer County, California
This striking specimen of native gold features a dense cluster of wire crystals that extend in distinctive, gracefully curved patterns, a rare formation for its locality and a remarkable discovery. The gold wires exhibit a good luster and vivid, highly saturated yellow coloration, enhancing the specimen’s visual appeal. Enveloping the gold is a red limonite matrix, an iron oxide mineral that contrasts sharply with the gleaming crystals. On one face, thicker gold wires are prominently concentrated near the upper section, while both sides are adorned with an exceptional array of rare and intricate wire crystals. This specimen stands as an outstanding representation of its origin.
