Crystallized Twinned Gold on Quartz

This gold displays an unusual crystal habit of fine crystalline growth with also large crystal faces. The native gold specimen developed into a spinel twin formation on its top section where it splits with similar crystal morphology on both sections. upon closer examination we can see secondary crystal growth of find fibers of densely clustered crystalline surfaces alongside solid geometric crystallized faces. The crystallized faces are well defined with sharp striations and lustrous faces. Its darker matrix is composed of andesite and quartz (the gold grows from the quartz). This darker andesite matrix provides a perfect contrast to the bright buttery yellow gold crystal.
