Platinum  Crystal

Konder Massif, Ayan-Maya dist., Khabarovsk Krai, Russia

This platinum crystal is very interesting as it displays an elongated cluster of twin crystals. These crystals are grouped and interlocking one another creating a long chain of more than a dozen cubic platinum crystals. The platinum crystal also has some of the original host rock in between the crystals. The cubic crystals are mostly well formed with sharp angular edges while other crystals are hollowed and slightly morphed must likely due to a disruption while the crystal was forming under high pressure. For a platinum crystal to have this many cubic formations is not often formed and this example is a prime example from the Konder Massif, only place where platinum cubes form. This rare platinum crystal is also very displayable on both sides with unique features and perspective and highly aesthetic crystal for the mineral collector.
