Gold Crystal
Eagles Nest Mine
Placer County, California
This visually striking gold specimen displays an eye-catching crystal habit beautifully contrasted by its bright white quartz matrix. The gold formed in an elegant dendritic structure composed of elongated crystals. During growth, the main crystal naturally separated into two distinct elongated branches, creating a dynamic and sculptural form. At the tip, a delicate cluster of thinner, intricately interwoven crystals forms a nest-like network that adds exceptional detail and character to the piece. The gold surfaces exhibit remarkable luster and a vibrant, bright yellow color that is typical of specimens from this locality. On the reverse side, a stout octahedral gold crystal can be seen protruding from the tip of the lower quartz base, adding another attractive crystallographic feature. This specimen represents an excellent and aesthetically appealing example from the locality.
