Gold Crystal
Eagles Nest Mine
Placer County, California
A truly unusual example from this locality, this specimen features beautifully developed leafy gold, an uncommon crystal habit for the mine. The gold forms delicate, three-dimensional leaves that overlap and gently curve, creating a flowing, almost fabric like appearance. Scattered across the surface are fine dendritic crystals, adding texture and visual interest. In certain areas, these form a subtle, scale-like pattern that enhances the specimen’s overall aesthetic. Near the base, where the gold meets the white quartz matrix, isolated dendritic crystals appear and gradually spread across sections of the leafy structure as a secondary growth. The reverse side presents a cleaner, more classic leafy formation, free of dendritic overgrowth, and displays a smooth, consistent surface with a bright metallic luster across the rich golden color. This is a rare and highly attractive gold specimen that stands out as a distinctive example from the locality.
