Gold Crystal
Irish Gulch, El Dorado Creek, Dawson City, Yukon, Canada
This leaf gold specimen displays a very rare and unusual crystal habit from a rare locality. The gold crystal is mostly a leaf which developed into a flat octahedral crystal with hoppered crystal habits. The hoppered effect are the angular stepped like crystal formations developed on its leafy surface. Its surface is very lustrous in some areas with slightly smaller clusters of complex modified octahedral on its top. The middle section of the gold crystal also developed curved habits like a ribbon like formation. On its sides are thick branches of leaf gold surrounded by smaller leafy crystals. On the reverse side the very large octahedral crystal is clearly visible on top of the leafy surface of the gold crystal. The overall size is long and displayable on both sides with equal and unique beauty. Its color is a saturated honey yellow color with good luster on both sides. This gold specimen is a prime example for its locality.
