Gold Crystals on Quartz
Sonora, Mexico
This highly aesthetic gold specimen showcases vibrant, bright yellow crystals with a good luster from its flat crystal faces. The gold crystals exhibit intricate, overlapping growth patterns, including sponge-like structures with sharp tips and geometric spinel crystals with shiny surfaces. Crystallized gold from Mexico is exceptionally rare, and this piece showcases a quartz matrix adorned with complex crystals, some of which have sharp tips. The gold formed within pockets of the quartz, resulting in both wire gold and leafy crystals. The dendritic gold is clustered and visible from all sides of the quartz matrix. This native gold specimen is an outstanding example from its locality.
