Gold Crystals with Galena on Quartz Matrix

This interesting specimen from historical gold mining district of Grass Valley displays reflective gold crystals of rich saturated color. The unusual part of this specimen is, it’s covered in a very fine and thin layer of native galena which is also rich in silver and lead. The two native elements being found growing together is a rare phenomenon. The quartz matrix has a slight amount of calcite but not much. The native gold specimen is a truly a unique and excellent specimen for any gold collector.
