Gold on Quartz
16 to 1 Mine
Alleghany Mining District, Sierra County, California
Gold specimens from the 16 to 1 Mine are rarely encountered, making this an exceptional example from the locality. The specimen features thick, branching crystalline gold with numerous fine microcrystals forming as secondary growth across the surface. These tiny crystals create an intricate texture and excellent luster, producing additional sparkle as the specimen is rotated under light. The rich golden color contrasts beautifully against the bright white quartz matrix, highlighting the detailed crystalline growth. A particularly attractive and collectible specimen from this rare California locality.
