Gold on Quartz
Coulterville, Mariposa County, California
This exceptional gold specimen displays a rich concentration of yellow native gold on a white quartz matrix. The gold developed into clusters of crystalline gold with some having bright crystal faces that reflect light. The crystalline gold crystals are early visible on all sides of the specimen with thick and robust crystals protruding from within the quartz. Native crystalline gold is not often seen from Coulterville as much anymore and this representation is a prime specimen for its locality.
