Herringbone Cubic Gold Crystal
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
This crystallized gold specimen showcases natural gold crystal growth at an exceptional level. The crystal formation is so precise and symmetrical that it almost appears unreal. The specimen developed in a rare herringbone crystal habit composed of stacked octahedral and cubic gold crystals, each displaying sharp edges, well-defined faces, and extreme luster. What makes this piece especially remarkable is the reverse side. While the front exhibits the striking herringbone structure, the back is covered with flat dendritic gold crystals that create an entirely different appearance. It is uncommon to find a single specimen displaying two distinct crystal habits so beautifully developed on opposite sides. The gold is naturally perched on a contrasting quartz matrix, enhancing the rich buttery-yellow color and brilliant luster of the native gold. The combination of exceptional crystal definition, dual crystal habits, and attractive matrix makes this a truly rare and highly collectible crystallized gold specimen.
