Crystalline Native Gold with Quartz Matrix

This impressive specimen exhibits a rich network of crystallized lustrous native gold. In between the gold is believed to be yellow brown sphalerite crystals and galena which are the black spots. The lustrous native gold travels throughout the quartz matrix and displays visible gold on all sides and angles of the specimen. The crystalline gold is also a rich buttery yellow color with a reddish brown oxide on some areas of the gold surfaces. Specimens of this example from the locality are not often located and is a must have for the mineral collector.
