Native Gold Crystals on Quartz Matrix

A large and beautiful specimen of crystallized gold sits perfectly on a quartz matrix. Crystallized gold from Australia is rare and having a quartz matrix with crystallized gold is even less of an occurrence. This specimen exhibits flat reflective crystal habits that are displayed on both sides of the specimen. The flat gold crystals are large with the largest crystal reaching 1.2cm in length. The quartz matrix is a brownish orange color and a result of gold related oxides being deposited on the quartz with smaller gold veins also on one of the sides of the matrix.
