Native Gold Crystal
Round Mountain Mine, Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, U.S.A.
This native gold specimen displays developed into an incredible crystal with intense color and luster. The native gold displays a cubit crystal habit which is very difficult and rare to obtain to form its crystal structure. There are many spinel twin cubic crystals formed along its side one on top of the other. In order for cubic crystals to develop there needs to be extreme pressures and temperatures at the same time and exact all at once, which is why we don't often see natural cubic gold crystals. Every crystal exhibit highly lustrous flat geometric faces with smaller clusters of gold crystals developed in between. On the reverse side we examine smaller complex wire crystals developed throughout the and the gold crystals reflect light at a certain angle which tells us of its complex micro crystal habits on its surface.
