Native Gold with Galena and Quartz
Kensington Mine, Berners Bay, Alaska
This is an exceptional and uncommon native gold specimen, as only a few are accessible to collectors from this particular mine. Typically, this mine does not yield abundant native gold deposits of this rickness, making this specimen a rare and unusual discovery. In 1993, K. Dotson collected this specimen, along with other specimens from the mine's 980-foot level. The specimen features a rich saturation of yellow color and remarkable luster. Its native gold structure exhibits leaf-like growth patterns with flat, highly lustrous faces, making it a distinctive and striking example of native crystallized gold.
