Spinel Twin Octahedral Crystal
Baker County, Oregon
This exceptional native gold crystal is among the finest examples we have seen from this locality. The specimen features a striking arrangement of stacked octahedral crystals displaying the classic spinel-law twin habit, accented by smaller trigon crystals across the surface. The primary crystal exhibits a brilliant mirror-like luster, enhanced by intricate natural striations that intensify its reflective qualities and create an exceptionally bright appearance. At the base of the specimen, clusters of smaller geometric gold crystals add remarkable complexity and visual interest, complementing the bold central crystal. The rich crystallization and sculptural form make this an outstanding and highly aesthetic example of crystallized native gold. Nearly every angle reveals impressive luster, while certain viewing positions ignite the crystal with an extraordinary flash of light that rivals the brilliance of the finest gemstones.
