This extraordinary gold specimen features a complex, overlapping, sponge-like texture of native gold adorned with sparkling microcrystals that enhance its brilliant luster. Such specimens are exceedingly rare, especially since the Manhattan Mine has ceased operations. Visible from all sides, the gold crystal clusters exhibit subtle dendritic crystallization and a small amount of quartz matrix. The specimen is dense and boasts a rich, buttery yellow color, distinct from the pale yellow typically seen in crystals from this locality.
