Wire Gold

Belshazzar Mine, Quartzburg District, Boise County, Idaho

This highly aesthetic gold specimen features sharp, thick wire crystals intricately interwoven into complex clusters. In addition to classic wire formations, the specimen also displays well-developed pseudowire crystals elongated, flattened, leaf-like structures that resemble delicate ribbons of gold. These occur alongside gracefully curving and branching wires, creating a dynamic and visually engaging crystal arrangement. The combination of multiple crystal habits adds depth and rarity, making the specimen especially attractive to collectors. The gold is set on a multi mineral matrix composed of quartz and brown limonitic sulfides. This darker matrix provides strong contrast, enhancing the rich, buttery-yellow color of the gold. The specimen also exhibits excellent luster, with fine secondary microcrystal growth that catches and reflects light from different angles, producing a subtle, eye-catching sparkle.
