Wire Gold Cluster
Belshazzar Mine, Quartzburg Mining District, Boise County, Idaho
This remarkable gold specimen showcases a dense, intricate cluster of robust crystals tightly packed into a solid, eye-catching formation. Its crystal architecture is dominated by a tangle of wire-like structures that interlace and overlap, forming a complex and visually engaging network. Many of the crystals are sharply defined, with a few extending outward in delicate branches. There are some quartz matrix attaches to the wires with some extending into the quartz rock. The gold displays good luster and displays a rich, buttery-yellow hue characteristic of asthetic native gold. Specimens from the Belshazar Mine are extremely rare, and when discovered, they often exhibit this distinctive wire crystal habit a formation recognized as one of the rarest natural growth patterns for gold.
