Wire Gold Cluster
Belshazzar Mine, Quartzburg Mining District, Boise County, Idaho
This exceptional gold specimen features a dense cluster of sturdy, interwoven crystals tightly packed into a striking and solid formation. Its structure is dominated by a tangled network of wire-like gold crystals that overlap and twist together, creating a visually captivating display. Many of the crystals are sharply defined, with some branching outward in fine, delicate extensions. Portions of the gold are attached to a quartz matrix, with some of the wires weaving into the surrounding quartz. The gold has a bright luster and a rich, buttery-yellow color—hallmarks of high-quality native gold. Specimens from the Belshazzar Mine are incredibly rare, and when they do surface, they often showcase this unusual wire-like crystal habit—one of the rarest and most sought-after natural growth forms of gold.
