Wire Gold Cluster

Belshazzar Mine, Quartzburg Mining, Boise County, Idaho

This exceptional native gold specimen features a dense, tightly packed cluster of thick, well-formed crystals, creating a highly intricate and three-dimensional structure. The gold occurs primarily as robust wire-like crystals that are interwoven and overlapping, forming a complex and visually striking network. The main wires are thick and gently curved, showing fine striations and sharp terminations. Several crystals branch outward, adding balance and dynamic geometry to the overall form. The entire surface displays a brilliant metallic luster with vivid reflectivity, complemented by a rich, buttery-yellow color typical of this rare gold. An extremely limited and highly sought after locality for crystallized gold this specimen represents a rare example of the wire crystal habit, one of the scarcest natural forms of gold. Notably, this locality is uniquely recognized for producing well defined wire gold formations of this caliber.
