Wire Gold Cluster
Belshazzar Mine, Quartzburg Mining District, Boise County, Idaho
This incredible gold specimen features a dense, intricate mesh of thick crystals clustered tightly together, forming a solid and visually striking piece. The crystal structure primarily consists of interwoven and overlapping wire-like formations, creating a complex network. Most of the individual crystals are sharply defined, with some branching outward slightly. The specimen also exhibits excellent luster across its surfaces and a vivid, buttery-yellow color typical of high-quality native gold. Gold from the Belshazar Mine is exceptionally rare, and when found, it often forms in the distinctive wire crystal habit. This wire formation is considered one of the rarest natural crystal habits for gold, with only a few known localities worldwide capable of producing such specimens.
