Wire Gold Cluster
Manhattan Mine, Manhattan Mining District, Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, USA
This remarkable gold specimen features complex, overlapping, and slightly curved wire crystals, closely clustered to form a single piece. Such a specimen is extremely rare, especially since the Manhattan Mine is no longer operational. The gold wires are visible from all sides, with shorter wire crystals on the backside. The specimen is dense and exhibits a buttery yellow color, with minor quartz matrix interspersed among the lustrous gold crystals. In certain areas, the gold has crystallized into a starburst pattern, with thick gold wires radiating outward. This wire gold specimen represents an outstanding example from this locality.
