Wire Gold Cluster
Manhattan Mine, Manhattan Mining District, Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, USA
This extraordinary gold specimen features intricately overlapping and slightly curved wire crystals, closely clustered to form a single cohesive piece. Such specimens are extremely rare, especially since the Manhattan Mine has ceased operations. The gold wires are visible from all sides, with the backside displaying shorter wire crystals. The specimen is dense and exhibits a rich buttery yellow color, with minor quartz matrix interspersed among the lustrous gold crystals. In certain areas, the gold has crystallized into a starburst effect, where thick gold wires radiate outward in a star pattern. This wire gold specimen exemplifies the unique and exceptional mineralogy of this locality.
